The wonderfully named Simon Sylvanus Deli has been repeatedly linked with a move to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers over the past couple of days, but the Glasgow club may not have a clear path to the deal.

Currently at Slavia Prague, where he’s been since 2015, the 27 year old central defender is highly rated by his club, who have made it very clear they’d rather not see him leave this summer.

That he has a contract running out in June 2020 is good news for Rangers and other interested parties, as it puts Slavia under some pressure.

Without a renewal they’re under immediate pressure to sell the player, or begin the run-in to a possible free transfer next summer.

Wednesday’s edition of HLN report Rangers won’t have it all their own way, because there’s competition from Belgium.

Club Brugge are also keen on the player, as they look for a replacement for Stefano Denswil, who recently left for Bologna.
