Earlier today we brought you an update on Neymar’s potential return to Barcelona and how that story is now developing.
RAC journalist Gerard Romero was reporting Barcelona have finally decided to make an official approach for the Brazilian, with the decision made at a summit between the board and staff earlier this afternoon.
Romero offered no details on what the bid may be, just that Barca would be presenting a written offer sooner rather than later.
He has now updated his story and provided details on what Barcelona’s bid will entail. Romero says Barca will propose a loan offer for Neymar, which will include an option to buy at the end of it.

The deal would be structured similarly to the one which has taken Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona to Bayern Munich. There is no mention of the money involved, but it was discussed in the meeting nonetheless.
Romero has also spoken to someone close to the negotiations, with them telling RAC Barcelona are ‘confident’ and ‘there is a chance.’
That seems unlikely, though. PSG may be resigned to losing Neymar and want to move him on but they would demand a significant fee for any loan deal and would also want a compulsory purchase at the end, rather than a straightforward option.
Nonetheless, it seems Barcelona’s focus is now on getting Neymar back, and this huge deal is now one which is moving along at brisk pace.
