It seems Brighton & Hove Albion will have some tough competition in case they again try to sign Lucas Beraldo, this time in January.
That’s because, according to journalist Gabriel Sá, Barcelona are now interested in the São Paulo defender.
It’s claimed that the Camp Nou side should make a good formal bid at the end of the year.
São Paulo continue playing tough, as they ‘don’t want to sell him cheap’ and want to hold the player ‘as long as possible’.
As journalist Jorge Nicola talks about the news, he points out that Brighton tried to sign Beraldo in the summer by offering €6m.
The defender has just signed a new contract with São Paulo, and according to the reporter, the Tricolor want €15m to let him go, despite his new €60m release clause.
Reports from Brazil have already claimed that the Seagulls could try again in the January window, so we shall see if they’ll actually compete with Barcelona for that signing.
Speaking to Nicola, Beraldo’s staff say they haven’t heard from the La Liga giants yet.
