It appears that the impending arrival of Mateu Alemany at Aston Villa has kickstarted the transfer wheels behind the scenes at Villa Park.

Actually, that’s a bit of an understatement, with them suddenly going into overdrive, according to Marca, who claim the Premier League side are ‘looking to hire Ferran Torres’ from Barcelona, as well as another forward.

And he’s not just anyone. No, we’re talking about Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, who has been highly coveted in the Premier League for some time.

The Spanish outlet published an article on Thursday claiming Aston Villa ‘want to strengthen their attack’ and are ‘willing to pay more than €100m’ for the Serbian forward and Torres.

It’s said they want to make a ‘competitive team’, ready to make a ‘great financial effort’ to do so, and will focus on the aforementioned duo if possible.

Unai Emery and Alemany consider the Barcelona man a ‘very talented player’, and believe he could do great things in Birmingham, especially since he already knows the Premier League from his time at Manchester City.

However, the player ‘doesn’t want to leave the Camp Nou’ and is ‘determined to succeed’ under Xavi, wanting to grow under the club legend, fully convinced he can change his mind and become an important member of the squad.

The issue here is that Barcelona will need to make some sales, which Torres is aware of, but he ‘does not want to be chosen’ as one of the sacrificial lambs.

That could end up being down to Aston Villa, whose potential future offer might be too good to refuse.
