Newcastle United are today back to being linked to Torino defender Perr Schuurs.

It’s website TuttoMercatoWeb who on Thursday features a piece claiming the Premier League are in ‘pole position’ to take the 23-year-old from the Turin side this summer.

It’s claimed that Newcastle are ‘particularly attentive’ to Schuurs’ situation at Torino, as he could be gone from the club in the summer.

Urbano Cairo, president of the Serie A side, has been claiming he’d like to keep the player, but it’s known he ‘could be sold to raise cash’.

Schuurs joined Torino on a €9m move from Ajax last summer, but his good season in Italy is exactly why they’re already thinking of a sale, as Transfermarkt already has his valued at €20m.

Newcastle have been heavily linked to the defender in the past few months, with reports claiming the Magpies could be a ‘tempting destination’ for him.

The Italian media have been claiming that Torino could demand between €30m and €50m to let him go this summer, so it makes sense why they’re considering such an early sale.
