Aston Villa appear set to secure Monchi from Sevilla, with his departure from the Spanish club now almost a certainty.

That’s according to AS, who say that Monchi has completed his move to Aston Villa, who ‘will play the clause’ to reunite him with Unai Emery.

According to their information, Monchi has finalised his departure from the Europa League champions and ‘only the official announcement is missing’ on that front.

He will leave the club to work alongside Emery again at Aston Villa, with those in charge at Villa Park having agreed to simply pay the clause to get him out of his current contract.

Sevilla are already on the hunt for a replacement and have been for several days, with former Leeds United director of football Victor Orta the favourite to take up the position.

That will be finalised once Monchi has departed but with Aston Villa now willing to pay his clause it is a matter of when not if he will swap Andalucía for Birmingham and reunite with Emery once more.
