Back towards the very end of the summer transfer window, when Premier League clubs weren’t allowed to make anymore transfers, Aston Villa tried to get a deal done for Le Havre centre-back Harold Moukoudi.

The player reportedly went as far as travelling to Birmingham to meet with Steve Bruce (who was managed at the time) and visit the club infrastructures, yet his eventual decision was to stay in France with the Ligue 2 side and help them return to Ligue 1.

That first setback hasn’t scared the Villains off, however, as France Football on Friday explain the Championship side, currently fighting for a return to England’s top-tier, are still ‘hoping’ to convince the young defender to move to Villa Park.

However, as you may have guessed, Aston Villa aren’t the only club after Moukoudi, as Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga are both also sniffing around.

Despite all being attractive destinations, the 21-year-old is said to be wary of skipping steps in his development, and doesn’t quite value a move abroad just yet.

The 21-year-old has missed just one game for Le Havre in the league this season, who aren’t in an ideal position (currently 10th) for their promotion bid.
