At the end of last week there was a claim in Germany of Aston Villa preparing a €18m offer for Milot Rashica.

Over the weekend, Werder Bremen’s head of football, Clemens Fritz, confirmed Villa interest during an interview with NDR.

“They [Villa] have come forward, yes, I can confirm that. There is nothing concrete. There are a few requests for him. We are in intensive and close contact with his management,” Fritz was quoted as saying by Deich Stube.

At the same time, Aston Villa have been pursuing a deal for Lyon’s Bertrand Traore, a transfer which looks closer to completion. Rashica spent last season playing either on the left wing or in an advanced midfield role, Traore was on the right wing.

Signing both is conceivable, but Bild feel it could be unlikely, saying the Rashica transfer is ‘in danger’.

Aston Villa haven’t made a formal offer to Werder Bremen, and Bild don’t believe Rashica is keen on a move to the club. He had been close to RB Leipzig and Champions League football, so won’t rush to say yes to Villa given there’s a few weeks of the window left.

Should he be fit enough, Rashica is expected to be available for Werder against Hertha Berlin at the weekend.
