Even though Douglas Luiz did not leave Aston Villa this summer, despite the interest he drew from other Premier League sides, it seems he should be walking from the club in a near future.

Brazilian outlet UOL today writes that the midfielder, whose contract with the club expires at the end of the season, is already planning to leave the club for free.

It’s claimed Douglas Luiz has ‘decided’ not to sign a new contract with Aston Villa and prefers to negotiate with interested clubs from January, when he’ll be able to sign a pre-contract.

Journalist Bruno Andrade claims the midfielder had been ‘hopeful’ of being sold in the summer.

It’s said he was ‘many times’ approached by Milan, besides the rejected bids from Arsenal, whose last attempt was of £25m.

The story says Douglas Luiz’s ‘idea’ is to stay in the Premier League, where he’s ‘happy and adapted’.

So with a few months until he’s able to sign a pre-contract, the list of interested sides will certainly depend on how well he does with Aston Villa this season.
