Boubacar Kamara has started every league match for Aston Villa since he arrived at Villa Park as a free agent in the summer window.

The midfielder was taken off the pitch right before the break in his last outing against Southampton.

Aston Villa have confirmed the France international has suffered a knee ligament injury and this forced him to withdraw from the France national team squad for this month’s international break.

Last week, L’Equipe reported the 22-year-old will not be able to return to the pitch until mid-November and will miss the World Cup.

Today’s edition of the same newspaper states Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps has several concerns when selecting the squad for the upcoming FIFA tournament in Qatar, considering he had 14 players injured for September’s fixtures.

Kamara was among them, along with his Aston Villa teammate Lucas Digne. It’s said the only good news is that no one is officially ruled out for the 2022 World Cup, and that includes Steven Gerrard’s midfielder.

The player has travelled to Dubai for treatment and ‘by getting a splint’, Kamara now remains hopeful he can return within six to seven weeks.

In other words, the player could be fit by the end of October or beginning of November, and in the process, make himself available for selection for the World Cup.

L’Equipe state the national team’s medical staff are not as optimistic as the Aston Villa player regaining full fitness within seven weeks.

Digne, on the other hand, should be back in action ‘mid-October’.
