Since Douglas Luiz scored two goals in Aston Villa’s win over West Ham United, the Brazilian media has been highlighting his good season at Unai Emery’s side.

Now we get to see UOL talking about him becoming a ‘ghost’ for national team manager Fernando Diniz, who may feel pressured to bring the player back to the squad.

Douglas Luiz hasn’t played for Brazil since 2021, and his good time at Aston Villa is supposed to draw the new coach’s attention.

UOL points out that following the recent disappointing performances from the national team, the midfield’s return started being asked for on social media, and they prove with stats that he’s deserving that.

The story points out that Diniz already has his favourite options for the midfield, where Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães have been partnering.

Still, despite how hyped those players are, that doesn’t seem to be working well, and Douglas Luiz is supposed to get a chance.

The Aston Villa player has clearly been upset at not being in the national team squad. In recent weeks, we first saw him sending an indirect message on social media, and then claiming that his main objective this year is to play for his country again.

If he keeps up his good form, it seems his return will be inevitable.
