Earlier on Tuesday, we covered reports from Portugal which revealed how much Aston Villa would like to pay for the signing of Pedro Gonçalves from Sporting.

It was claimed by Observador’s Luis Pinto Coelho that the Premier League side were only considering offering €40m for the winger, and that would not be enough to convince the Lions.

But it turns out that as newspaper A Bola talks about Aston Villa’s chase for the player today, they actually have a different opinion on Gonçalves’ price.

The outlet features a big story about the winger’s future. They explain that Sporting only own 50% of his rights, and are trying to buy the rest from his former club Famalicão. It’s said an understanding can be found for €8m, but the selling side want to keep 10%, eyeing this future big move, and the talks are ongoing.

And what about Aston Villa? Well, A Bola says the English club have been following Gonçalves for a long time, as the 24-year-old ‘delights’ shareholder Nassef Sawiris.

Regarding the price, here’s what is interesting. The newspaper claims that in the first approaches, Sporting demanded player’s €80m release clause, but in case an offer of between €40m and €50m arrives, there’s a ‘good chance’ a deal could be done.

So if that first report about Aston Villa offering €40m was right, perhaps we could see things developing from there.
