Last week, Calciomercato reported Aston Villa have made contact with Denzel Dumfries’s entourage over a potential move in the summer.

On Tuesday, FcInterNews stated Unai Emery’s side are likely to invest on a new right-back and the Inter Milan player suits both their financial and technical needs.

A fresh report from FcInterNews gives Aston Villa encouragement in their pursuit of the defender.

The Netherlands international’s contract lasts until 2025 and talks over renewal are set to resume at the end of this month. If there’s no agreement, the Serie A side want to cash in from his sale in the summer.

It’s claimed the Aston Villa target’s dream is to make a switch to the Premier League but that doesn’t mean he’s obsessed with leaving the San Siro. The report says it means if an offer from a top English club were to arrive, the 27-year-old would certainly consider it.

Inter are also open to parting ways with the former PSV Eindhoven and currently value him at around €25-30m.

FcInterNews state it would be a different matter if there’s an offer from a smaller or non-top tier club, and in that case, the Dutchman has to make a detailed assessment.

Aston Villa are currently fourth in the table and are in firm contention to qualify for the Champions League.

Emery’s side could use the Champions League football to their advantage, to convince Dumfries to join them in the next window.
