João Félix has been regularly linked to a few English sides ever since Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín confirmed the player wants to leave the club in the winter market.

Aston Villa have been pushed forward as one of the star’s suitors.

On December 6th, Marca stated the Villans are already negotiating with the La Liga side for the forward.

Two days later, Marca journalist David Medina explained why Aston Villa are ‘well placed’ to sign the 23-year-old in January.

Fichajes.net claim the Portugal international is seeking a move elsewhere because of his poor relationship with Diego Simeone. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is already at work to find a new destination. Aston Villa could be an option in January, if another report from Spain is to be believed.

Journalist Miguel Martín Talavera told Cadena Ser’s El Larguero Unai Emery’s side want to win the transfer battle by ‘making a huge effort’ to sign Félix. That’s about the only piece of information Talavera mentions about Aston Villa.

Miguel Ángel Gil Marín had earlier confirmed Félix wants to move elsewhere. Using this, El Larguero’s Manu Carreño quizzed Atlético president Enrique Cerezo on whether the attacker will leave the club in January.

Responding to that, Cerezo said: “There is a sporting relationship, but you know how it is. Today you win and you are god, but tomorrow you lose, and you are nobody. Look at Argentina. I have not seen greater atrocities said than what the Argentine comrades said and now they have to take them out by helicopter.”
