Aston Villa have made progress in their pursuit of Red Star Belgrade’s Kosta Nedeljković.

The 18-year-old is a product of the Serbian club’s youth system and was promoted to their senior team in 2023. Operating mainly as a right-back, he’s managed two assists from 18 appearances this season.

His profile and potential seem to have pleased the Villans. According to Serbia’s Telesport, Aston Villa have sent a ‘rich offer’ to Red Star Belgrade for the youngster.

The fee proposed by them side isn’t mentioned, but the report states their ‘multi-million sum’ will be accepted by the Serbian club and he ‘will back his bags’ to go to England.

Red Star Belgrade weren’t initially planning to sell the teenager, but their board changed their mind and unanimously made a decision, after receiving an offer from Aston Villa.

Telesport aren’t sure if the defender will join Aston Villa this month or next summer.

Meanwhile, Srpskainfo state a €9m deal ‘was agreed on Sunday’ for Nedeljković’s transfer to Villa Park and only the official announcement is missing.

They claim he’ll finish the season at Red Star Belgrade and make a switch to England in the summer. This is backed up by Index.hr, who add Unai Emery’s side are ‘on the verge of signing’ the Serbia U19 international for a deal worth less than €9m.
