Things haven’t been great recently for Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu in Germany since he arrived on loan last summer.

The right-back hadn’t started a game for VfL Bochum since November, and didn’t even make it to the match-day squad for several games this year.

With his club fighting against relegation to the third division, it didn’t look like there was a big chance for the 21-year-old to turn things around this season.

But perhaps his last appearance has changed it all.

Since Simon Zoller missed last weekend’s match against SV Sandhausen, there was a spot on the right wing. Osei-Tutu took his chance and ended up doing great, scoring a goal and making an assist in a 4-4 draw.

“Jordi has offered himself for weeks in training and really stepped on the gas,” said manager Thomas Reis.

Now German outlet Kicker starts wondering if Osei-Tutu will end up stealing Zoller’s place in the team for the game against SV Darmstadt 98. They say the player had almost been ‘written off’, and now could change his status at the club.

Following the loan spell, Osei-Tutu should return to Arsenal at the end of the season. He’s still to make his official debut for the Gunners, despite getting on the bench a few times.
