Despite the many stories from the Italian media regarding Fiorentina’s wish to sign Lucas Torreira from Arsenal on a new deal, the local press now sounds pessimistic about La Viola’s chances of keeping the player.
Website CalcioMercato.it comes up with a report today claiming that it’s now Galatasaray who are the club ‘closest’ to landing the midfielder.
The outlet writes that the Turkish side ‘officially expressed their interest’ in Torreira a few days ago, and the talks with Arsenal ‘immediately got underway’. It’s said the clubs are now ‘working hard to get to the white smoke’ for a permanent transfer.
Between Galatasaray and Torreira, there’s already an ‘agreement in principle’ for a three-year contract, with an option for an extra season, from which he’ll make €3m per season.
For now, there are no details on how much the Turkish club are paying Arsenal for the transfer. Torreira had many times claimed he’d like to stay at Fiorentina, so for La Viola to lose this race, then Gala certainly made a much more attractive offer, either to the player or to Arsenal.
