During the summer transfer window, Mauro Icardi was repeatedly linked with a move away from Inter Milan. It was mainly down to his wife, and agent, Wanda Nara, and a clumsy way to push for a pay rise.
Inter Milan became so fed up with Nara’s public pushing for more money, and using other clubs, that they considered making efforts to sell the player. Icardi’s captaincy of the Inter team, something which was a product of his last contract renewal, also became under threat.
Quoted by Calciomercato, Nara has said they never wanted to leave Milan, and tried to push blame back on the club: “However, given that Ausilio (sporting director) had asked me to bring the offers, I went to him with those of PSG, Napoli and Juventus. And there was also Tottenham, but they spoke directly with Piero.”
The drama continues with Nara, Icardi and Inter, and it would be no surprise if next summer is similar to the last one.
At least they got another pay rise.
