With limited funds at their disposal this summer, Arsenal will have to be careful and smart with their transfer business.
Continuing to shape the squad is a necessity for Unai Emery, but doing so will be difficult on such a limited budget.
That has led them to look at options they might be able to get relatively cheap, and Christopher Nkunku is one such player.
The Gunners were keen on him back in January but could only afford a loan deal, something PSG weren’t interested in. We examined the details of those negotiations last week, courtesy of L’Equipe.
Today’s edition of the newspaper provides an update on the 21-year-old, and it doesn’t look good for the Gunners. They report that while they remain ‘on the lookout’ for the player, it’s more expected he’ll complete a move to RB Leipzig.
L’Equipe also provide an update on the futures of several other PSG stars, namely Thomas Meunier and Julian Draxler.
The club are looking to move both on, but Draxler’s wages are proving an issue for any interested parties. He’s likely to remain if no suitor can be found, given Thomas Tuchel likes him.
Meunier, meanwhile, has a year left on his contract and will either ‘be sold on at a good price’ or given a new deal. Both players have been linked with Arsenal in the past, and this could be the perfect opportunity for them to negotiate a decent deal on the pair of them, given PSG’s openness to a sale.
