Premier League side Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs chasing Coritiba right-back Yan Couto.

According to journalist Jorge Nicola today, the Gunners are alongside Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the player.

Yan’s contract with Coritiba expires at the end of the year, but he’s said to be in talks to renew his deal so he won’t leave them for free.

This extension would include a small release clause, which would make things easier for him to move to Europe in the summer, once he turns 18 and becomes able to make the transfer.

Although those three clubs are named, it’s Barcelona who are said to be leading the race for now.

Jorge Nicola claims that Yan’s agent has been in Catalonia to discuss a move to the Camp Nou side. It’s still not said how much Barça would pay for the player, although the new contract should give us a better picture of the situation.

Arsenal have been linked with an increasing number of players in Brazil since Edu Gaspar’s appointment. That will be a mix of genuine extra interest, and also agents and clubs using the Gunners to hype a player.
