Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is being targeted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle this summer, although ‘nothing has moved yet’ in terms of a transfer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who provide the latest update on a potential move for the Serbian this summer.
They say that the midfielder was supposed to be one of this summer’s ‘market men’, but while there has been a lot of interest, there has been no ‘concrete action’.
The latest rumours about a transfer started ten days ago when Lazio chief Igli Tare made a second trip to London.
The Blues are not the only ones interested, though, and unlike their London rivals, it’s said Arsenal have actually made a bid of €50m.
That, though, was ‘not even considered’ by Lazio president Claudio Lotito, who will not even sit at the table to discuss a move for offers below €70m. Milinkovic-Savic also doesn’t like Arsenal as a destination.
The same can be said of Newcastle, who have also seen a €50m bid dismissed out of hand by the Italian club, who want at least €20m more than that just to open discussions.
It is because of this the rumours around the player have died down, with none of his other suitors seemingly willing to approach those figures for the time being.
Lotito has promised Lazio fans that he won’t sell the club’s star man, and fortunately, there is no serious interest in Italy, so he can stay true to his word. The interest is there from the Premier League, but the more time that passes, the more likely he is to stay.
While Arsenal and Newcastle have made bids, Chelsea are yet to do so, despite all the signs suggesting that they would.
That could change in the coming weeks, but there is also a feeling all the interested parties may wait a year for Milinkovic-Savic to be in the final year of his contract and then make their move.
