Arsenal are interested in Sevilla youngster Bryan Gil but will have to move quickly if they wish to sign him for an affordable price.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who name the Gunners alongside Barcelona as suitors for the 20-year-old.

Gil is currently on loan at Eibar and has been a regular for them this season, with 16 appearances in all competitions and three goals and two assists to his name.

His form has not gone unnoticed by some of the bigger clubs, with Barcelona having been heavily linked with a move for the player in recent weeks.

That is something Sevilla are aware of, and Estadio Deportivo report that they have reached an agreement with the youngster to renew his contract, which expires in 2023, until 2025.

They report that Monchi has held talks with Gil’s agent, Amadeo Rangel, in recent weeks to broach the topic of extending his deal and his release clause with it.

Gil’s current contract has a release clause worth €35m, but the plan is to extend that to €150m, a figure they hope that the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal would consider ‘unattainable’.

That figure is not locked down as yet, but there is ‘no doubt’ it will be around that figure as Sevilla look to make the youngster, who is highly rated by Monchi and manager Julen Lopetegui alike, out of reach for the bigger sides.

Thus, if Arsenal’s interest is genuine, they may need to move sooner rather than later before the relatively affordable €35m becomes obsolete.
