Atletico Madrid welcome Barcelona on Sunday evening at the Wanda, with Diego Simeone’s side fourth in La Liga on 27 points.

Barca have 38 points and are leading second placed Real Madrid on goal difference, with a game in hand. Therefore, the Catalans can go three points clear if they win the match.

Marca believe Joao Félix is likely to start for the home side, and in an article for their Sunday newspaper his transfer situation is covered again.

Ahead of the January market, Marca had already reported the Portugal international had asked to leave, and that saw links with clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Atletico pretty much confirmed the player’s desire, yet despite repeated claims, especially concerning Erik ten Hag’s side, nothing concrete has happened.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Arsenal and Manchester United ‘seem to be left alone’ in the transfer scenario, with Jorge Mendes talking to Premier League clubs, presumably including the duo.

As it stands, Marca don’t even try to hype the potential for a quick move, they just name Manchester United and Arsenal and insist Mendes is trying to find a solution.

Longstanding Barcelona interest is also referenced, although such a move would seem unlikely in January.
