The Dutch media continues to be occupied by the recent reports saying Arsenal are following the Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kökcü.
It was first the English press who said the Gunners would be ready to spend €27m on the player, and that sounded like a great opportunity for the Eredivisie side to make some cash.
That’s why local journalist Sinclair Bischo recently said that Feyenoord ‘have to do it right away’ in case this bid from Arsenal arrives.
Now on the Veronica Inside TV show, it was time for journalist Martijn Krabbendam to bring his take on the case. He confirms that Arsenal are interested in the player, but claims that there’s competition from a Spanish side as well.
It was also explained a Gunners official has travelled to the Netherlands, presumably to scout or chat with the player.
“Not only are Arsenal an option. They have been to Rotterdam, but Sevilla have also been to Rotterdam to talk to him and try to get him to Spain. He would prefer to stay at Feyenoord,” he said (via Soccer News).
However, he’s also claimed that players at Feyenoord have been demanding big salaries since they’ve seen how much Liam Kelly earned there. It’s created a problem for the Dutch side to hold their youngsters, and perhaps the Gunners could benefit from that.
