Arsenal are ‘very confident’ of finalising deals for Kai Havertz and Declan Rice this summer, despite an initial offer for the former being rejected by Chelsea.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ‘pushing for Havertz’ this summer.

He reports that Arsenal are in the ‘advanced stages’ of negotiations for both players as they look to strengthen their squad this summer.

The Gunners are currently ‘planning the next steps’ for the pair and are looking to beat the competition to both by getting deals done early this summer.

One of those could be Bayern Munich, who have been linked to both players in the last few months and have a transfer meeting scheduled for next week.

The suggestion from Plettenberg is that they could revive their efforts after that, but it seems Arsenal are moving to ensure they can’t be beaten.

The key now is finding an agreement with both Chelsea and West Ham for Havertz and Rice respectively, with Arteta apparently particularly keen to get a deal for the German over the line.
