Playing for an amateur club in France (FC Lyon), the name Yad Lochereau will mean absolutely nothing to the vast majority (if not all) of you.
We didn’t know who he was either, but Arsenal do, as Foot Mercato explained on Wednesday.
According to the French website, the Gunners spotted the youngster, who has to play most weeks with U15s due to a delay in acquiring his footballer’s licence, during an U16 tournament, where he was invited to play for OGC Nice.
His current situation is a bit all over the place, but the short version is: Arsenal liked what they saw in the young forward, as did a number of other clubs, such as Bayern Munich and Ajax.
The Gunners, as well as the others, are also said to have contacted Lochereau’s entourage.
In fact, his manager for FC Lyon’s U17s (he trains with the older players but has to play games for the U15s), Jordan Gonzalez, told Foot Mercato it would be a ‘miracle’ if his starlet was still with them next year, expecting him to have moved onto bigger and better things by then.
Will it be at the Emirates? We’ll have to wait and see.
