Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has praised manager Steven Gerrard, saying he has given him peace of mind this season.

Morelos has been a massive hit at Ibrox since arriving at the club in a £1m deal from HJK Helsinki in July 2017.

He has managed 64 goals and 24 assists in 112 games for the Gers so far and currently tops their goalscoring charts alongside Jermain Defoe this season as well.

His time in Scotland has not been entirely perfect though, with his ability to find the back of the net matched by his ability to pick up yellow and red cards.

The Colombian has picked up 32 yellow cards and three straight red cards in his time at Rangers so far, with two instances also seeing him pick up two yellows as well.

It’s an issue that’s seen him receive plenty of criticism, with many questioning his attitude and whether he has the right mentality to play at the top of the game.

This season, though, Morelos is yet to receive a single yellow card in 21 games at the club, and he credits Rangers boss Steven Gerrard for the turnaround.

“Gerrard has helped me a lot to have peace of mind at this start of the season,” he told Blue Radio Sports Blog.

“I had a hard time with the yellow cards last semester; he always tells me to think things through.

“(He says) to play calmly and for the team and just think about scoring goals and contributing to the team. Those words have strengthened me for my career.”
