Starting instead of Marcos Alonso in the Europa League final, as he has done for the vast majority of the tournament, Emerson Palmieri had a good game for Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Helping the Blues beat London rivals Arsenal 4-1 in Baku, the Italy international played the full 90 minutes and even bagged himself an assist, setting up Olivier Giroud’s header for the opener.

With the season now behind him, during which he made 27 appearances in all competitions, Emerson will go into his holidays knowing his future is safe, according to his agent.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Leonardo Cornacini made it clear his client would be staying at Stamford Bridge next season.

He said: “He has a few years left on his contract. He’s happy and the club are happy to have him. We are sure his future will be in London”.

As for Emerson’s relationship with Sarri, the agent was adamant everything was fine between the two, explaining the defender had developed a lot under the Chelsea manager, and there’s hope the 24-year-old could feature for Italy some more under Roberto Mancini going forward.

He said of the man in charge of the national team: “He knows who Emerson is, he’s good and follows football. Everyone watched the final, they saw beautiful, high quality football. Today, we trust that Emerson is one of the best in the world”.
