Nuno Tavares’ transfer from Benfica to Arsenal is still causing the Eagles some problems, according to reports from Portugal.

Record today writes that agent César Boaventura has taken legal action against the Lisbon side, demanding a payment of €984k.

The representative, who’s currently under house arrest, named several witnesses of that case, and one of them is Arsenal director Edu Gaspar.

The others are former Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira, club director Rui Pedro Braz and and lawyer Célia Falé.

Tavares left the Eagles for the Gunners in 2021, but it was this year that the transfer became a controversial topic at Benfica.

Reports from April showed that there was a disagreement at the Lisbon side regarding the sale.

That even affected Arsenal, who had agreed to pay €8m for the transfer, and were later told it’d take them other €2m in bonuses to get the deal done.

It was Edu Gaspar who was handling the talks, and that’s why he’s now down as a witness in the case.

As for Boaventura, he claimed to be owed €800k as 10% of the €8m move, and has added interest on top of that to reach the figure of €984k.
