According to a claim in the Swedish media, the agent of IFK Goteborg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg is to hold talks with Watford.

The 18 year old has been linked with a move to Watford in recent weeks, after reports IFK could be forced to sell the youngster due to financial reasons.

Fotboll Direkt have reported on the latest developments over the Dahlberg’s future, with suggestions Watford are lining up the youngster to ‘replace’ Heurelho Gomes. It’s reported Dahlberg’s representatives will soon meet with the English club with regards to the goalkeeper heading to England in the next window.

Watford should expect to face competition from Napoli after the Serie A side held meetings with Dahlberg’s agent last week.

Earlier this month we covered reports from Sweden that Watford have tabled a bid for Dahlberg, and that the Premier League side were in final negotiations to get a deal done.

Since then reports of a move to Vicarage Road had gone quiet, but it now seems Watford are stepping up their pursuit of the Swedish U21 international.
