Earlier today, we’ve covered a piece from Brazilian outlet UOL where they highlighted the past of Leeds United winger Raphinha.
The story was written by former midfielder Tinga, who interviewed the Whites’ star and talked about his childhood in the city of Porto Alegre.
We now bring some more quotes from that story, this time from Raphinha’s agent Deco, who talked about the 23-year-old’s past and future.
“Raphinha is a warrior boy, with a difficult history, he won everything on the wrist and still wins, because he still has a long career ahead of him”, Deco told UOL.
“He’s winning everything with great desire, with much dedication. This is all very new to him. Although in Brazil they still don’t understand very well who Raphinha is, he’s already showing his ability in Europe. It isn’t easy for a player to transfer almost four times in a two-year interval, all because of his quality. His rise is very fast. Although we have many extremes in Brazilian football, I don’t believe that there is another left-footed with his characteristics.”
Deco also talked about Raphinha’s international situation.
Despite being born in Brazil, the winger played for Portugal’s youth ranks, and is still to pick a first team to play for. Since he has Italian passport, he could end up playing for the Azzurra.
Deco is probably a good advisor to lean on, as despite being Brazilian, he ended up playing for Portugal, making 75 appearances for the European side.
“As his agent, I’ll always weigh the pros and cons. Despite my experience in football, it’s difficult to predict what will happen in the future, but it’s important that he go his way. He has his dreams, it’s a difficult decision and he has to follow his heart. I will respect his decision.”
Signed by Leeds United on a €18.5m deal from Rennes this summer, Raphinha has only made two appearances for the Whites so far, getting a few minutes in each of them. He should be soon ready to show his potential for the club.
