In Paraguay’s there’s no doubt that Julio Enciso will soon be signing for Brighton & Hove Albion.

We’ve already seen the local media and even Libertad president claiming that following a failed attempt in January, the Seagulls finally managed to land the winger on a deal worth around US$13m.

Now it’s time for Enciso’s representative to talk about the move, and bring a few more details of how Brighton worked to get the teenager signed this summer.

Speaking to ABC, Pedro Aldave made it clear this is a huge deal for the Paraguayan club, pointing out the Seagulls had a big wish of landing the player.

“I’m satisfied for sporting, economic reasons and for participating in something historic,” Pedro Aldave told ABC.

“It comes at the right time for him, for a lot of things. In 15 days the preseason starts from scratch, that has its advantages.”

“He arrives at a team stabilised in the first division, with many young people and South Americans. It’s the best football in the world. The dimension is his age, he’s the only and most expensive signing of the club. He goes with the betting poster, because the coach asked for it and they were already convinced of its potential.”

“We were already talking, they came to Asunción and we did not reach an agreement, then they invited me and I went to England. Brighton have an impressive training ground with 18 pitches, they have two pitches just for goalkeepers. It’s awesome.”

Aldave also revealed that Brighton weren’t the only side trying to bring Enciso to the Premier League, as other English clubs had been watching his development at Libertad as well.

Still, he claims it was their own choice to sign for the Seagulls.

“We chose the club for a lot of things, because people from City, United, 20 scouts came here in recent months.”
