Yesterday was a confusing day for Gazzetta World.

The website, ‘adapting’ an article from Gazzetta dello Sport, stated Tottenham and Roma had reached a €15m agreement over the transfer of Tony Sanabria to the Premier League club.

We’d covered the original article in the morning, and this wasn’t the case, with the newspaper clearly stating the clubs were yet to agree on a fee despite the player having agreed terms with Tottenham.

Now, TuttoMercatoWeb have thrown a big curveball into the mix, speaking to Sanabria’s agent, Raul Verdù, on Thursday, who makes it clear there is no agreement whatsoever with either club or player.

He explained: “The rumours about Tottenham? Speaking broadly, there has been some contact, but we need to evaluate with Roma. Right now, the boy is with the Giallorossi, then I’ll talk to Sabatini to decide what to do.

“Currently there is nothing concrete about Sanabria’s future. We’ll see if there’ll be news from next week onwards.”

The young Paraguayan striker spent last season on loan to Granada in La Liga, scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances, and will officially return to the Roman club at the end of the month.

That’s the official public stance on the situation for the time being, but of course, anything could be happening behind the scenes.
