As Arsenal midfielder Jorginho only has one start for the Gunners this season, rumours about an exit have been building.

The player recently revealed that he’s a São Paulo fan, and with the Brazilian side going through a great time, it’s been rumoured he could follow former Tottenham Hotspur player Lucas Moura to the Tricolor.

However, as journalist Jorge Nicola now shares an update on this situation, he managed to speak to São Paulo president Julio Casares about the Arsenal player.

Asked if there’s any chance he’s signing Jorginho in January, the club chief said: “There’s absolutely nothing about Jorginho. Forget this story.”

Nicola claims it’s clear that Jorginho is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans, and even though São Paulo do not plan to sign him in January, he could show up as a possibility for next summer.

The midfielder’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, so in case he does stay at the Gunners until then, that’s the most realistic scenario for São Paulo.

That should all depend on potential new chances he gets in the team this season.
