Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly joined the race for Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

After recent rumours which said Liverpool would be keen on the Dutchman, now Catalan newspaper Sport reports interest from the Gunners and Blues.

The outlet claims that Chelsea are already preparing themselves for Thibaut Courtois’ possible departure this summer. Meanwhile, Unai Emery would want a goalkeeper to replace Petr Cech due to his advanced age.

Both clubs have reportedly made contact to know the conditions of a possible deal, but the answer, so far, isn’t very good. Mostly because Barcelona don’t have any interest in selling Cillessen this summer.

Cillessen is said to be having different thoughts. He doesn’t mind listening to the good offers, and could leave the club if a good opportunity shows up, both financially and sportingly.

Sport claims English clubs could pay up to €35m for the goalkeeper, although Barcelona are currently demanding his €60m release clause. So there’s a long way to go in case Arsenal or Chelsea try to negotiate a fee for him.

It’s hard to believe that if any Premier League clubs did offer €35m, that Barcelona would really turn it down for their reserve goalkeeper.
