Within minutes of Zinedine Zidane’s press conference ending, Mundo Deportivo published a claim that Mauricio Pochettino has a release clause in his new Tottenham contract specific to Real Madrid.
Then Sport and Marca followed, with the latter stating: ‘Pochettino renewed last week with Spurs, but he did it with a condition that is none other than being allowed to go in case Real Madrid call him.’
Now they have more on that.
That sounds very much like there’s no clause, no agreement, no verbal guarantee. Nada, nothing. At least Marca have moved quickly to ‘clarify’ the situation, whilst the other claims still stand.
Just as it was hard to believe Pochettino has an exit clause, it’s equally hard to believe that Levy would be happy to negotiate his manager’s exit this summer.
Separately, Sport Witness has learned there is no clause. Written or verbal.
