Sandro Ramirez really wanted his move to Sevilla in the January transfer window, and, after the Spanish club saw several other options fail, he got it.
Just after completing his loan move, the Everton owned striker said: “I thank the president, Oscar, and the club for the effort. It was a tough negotiation, Everton has resisted until the end, that is secondary, now I am where I wanted to be, where the body asked me to be, I do not have the World Cup in mind, I want to work and do what I do best. Score goals.
“England is very different, the life is different, people are different, but now I come to a big city and a great club.”
It was clear Sandro had no intention of returning to Merseyside and was all set up to impress Sevilla, before the Spanish club, as they so often do, turned the screws in the summer to get the best deal out of Everton.
In March, Spanish newspaper Marca said the 22 year old had arrived from Everton with a ‘physical deficit’. His fitness wasn’t up to scratch, which seemed like more excuse making.
Now AS Sevilla say he should get some more chances to add to his 443 La Liga minutes, and during this time he needs to show the Spanish club he’s worth keeping.
It’s pointed out Sandro has already made clear his desire to remain at Sevilla (he’s done so several times) but that Everton ‘has the control’.
By that we assume they mean a transfer would only be possible if the Premier League club offer a ridiculously low fee or another loan.
This will not be easy. Either Sevilla will want to keep him, and try and drag Everton as close to €0 as possible, or they won’t and Sandro will be the Blues’ problem again in the summer.
