Arsenal’s reported interested in the Sporting right-back Cristiano Piccini has obviously not gone silent in Portugal today.
Even though newspaper Jornal de Notícias, who first reported the news, doesn’t have any updates on the situation, outlet A Bola have published their own take.
A Bola doesn’t have any new information, and as it normally happens in the Portuguese press, they don’t credit another Portuguese newspaper. They say the claims are coming from England.
Anyway, the interesting thing A Bola has to say is that €20m may not be enough to land the player, who is currently protected by a €45m release clause.
That goes against what Jornal de Notícias said, as they claimed the €20m bid that Arsenal are preparing should be enough to convince Sporting to sell the 25-year-old.
Knowing how Sporting deal with transfers, especially when Premier League clubs are involved, we’d say A Bola are more likely to be right. The Lions will demand as much as possible, and it’s up to Arsenal to see how much Piccini is really worth.
