Poor Roberto Mancini last week saw Tottenham Hotspur hammer the final nail in his Inter Milan coffin, or six final nails. Not long after, the manager was gone, insisting that he was leaving on a mutual agreement, but still taking a pay-off with him.
Quoted by Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, De Boer said: “I had the first contacts with representatives of the Chinese fund after the defeat against Tottenham, but I wanted to start on a deal only after the definition of Mancini’s position. I wanted the maximum fairness to him.”
That sounds like it swiftly led to Mancini’s ‘mutual agreement’ and De Boer flying to Milan to take up the reigns of a very difficult job.
Inter have been on a rebuilding project seemingly since Jose Mourinho left the club, and they don’t appear to have really built much so far. Players come, players go, and the same with managers.
