Two Brazil born midfielders may be launching media battles against each other ahead of the summer transfer window, to see who can flirt with Manchester City the most.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred has the advantage over Napoli’s Jorginho as he started earlier, and would almost certainly be easier to sign in the summer window.
But now Jorginho is doing some running, and has made it clear he’s chuffed with claims Pep Guardiola is keen on taking him to the Etihad.
Speaking to Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via Calciomercato), the Italian national team midfielder was asked about the reported interest, and didn’t hold back: “The recognition and praise from Guardiola, a coach so important to world football, is spectacular. In England there are teams that play football that I like.
“If any of these clubs were interested, I could fit in well and the club could adapt to the way I play, which is not so common. Two months left until the end of the season, I am very focused, I do not want to waste energy, I want to try enter the history of Napoli and conquer this Scudetto.”
Jorginho actually said spectacular, that’s not an over the top translation, so he’s certainly more than a little pleased.
Manchester City are expected to move for a midfielder during the summer window and whilst Fred has seemed the obvious transfer for a while, Jorginho could join him in the race to sign for Guardiola.
