Arsenal and Manchester City have reportedly both sent scouts to watch a Benfica youngster this week.
As reported by newspaper O Jogo, emissaries from the Premier League clubs were taking notes from João Félix’s performance for Benfica B.
The 18-year-old has returned to the reserve team after playing a few fixtures with the club’s academy. And he didn’t disappoint when featuring with the big boys, as he had a great display and scored a goal in the 4-0 win over União da Madeira.
Even though Manchester United were not represented in the stands, O Jogo claims that the Red Devils are another Premier League club who are keeping an eye on the youngster.
But all these clubs will have a hard task to sign the Felix. Benfica are not keen on selling, and plan to include him in the first team squad in the next season.
His €60m release clause makes the Eagles pretty calm about that, although they couldn’t realistically command such a fee, it gives protection against Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and others.
