Ouasim Bouy’s loan to Cultural Leonesa for the first half of the season was an absolute disaster. The 24 year old may as well have been on holiday, given Cultural weren’t even interested enough to include him in squads.
It was no surprise the loan came to an early end in January, and Bouy is still struggling to actually play football.
After the nightmare loan to Cultural, one may have figured that Leeds United would be more careful in future, only sending players to destinations where they were likely to actually play.
Things looked brighter with Yosuke Ideguchi when the new Leeds United signing arrived in Spain. The local media were excited largely because of the arriving media posse from Japan, and Ideguchi got more coverage than he would have otherwise.
But since then things haven’t exactly gone to plan.
Replaced by Sergio Marcos, Ideguchi was on the bench for the next match and for the two following he hasn’t even made the match-day squad.
Even for worse for the Leeds United player, Marcos did such a good job that he’s started the last two matches, with Oritz relegated to the bench.
Ideguchi’s big chance against Rayo Vallecano has therefore actually resulted in him dropping further down the pecking order.
Had Leeds United left the player in Japan, he’d have been getting regular football, upping his chances of a starting spot at the World Cup and strengthening his case for a work permit, automatic or otherwise.
The loan to Cultural may not only turn out to be stagnating for Ideguchi’s progress, but it could also actively hamper his chances of being allowed to play for Leeds.
