Chelsea won’t give up on signing Victor Lindelof. The Blues will keep trying to land the player until the end of the transfer window, according to reports from Portugal.
Record says the London club are still thinking of a way to convince Benfica, as the Portuguese side won’t sell the defender for less than his release clause, which is €30m.
Lindelof would be Chelsea’s Plan B in case they fail to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
If the Blues miss out on signing the Swedish defender now, the Portuguese claims say it will be probably much harder to buy him in the next summer. That’s because Benfica are planning to offer the player a new contract to convince him to stay, and this new deal would have a much higher release clause.
But if Antonio Conte’s side keep pressing, the transfer isn’t so unlikely to happen. Record says that “if Chelsea raise their offer a bit, it will be impossible to keep hold of the youngster”.
It’s just a matter of paying the €30m.
