With Grzegorz Krychowiak clearly without a future in France, and Thiago Motta approaching retirement age, Paris Saint-Germain are in need of a defensive midfielder.
That has been a badly kept secret for quite some time now, especially when you take into consideration their efforts to sign AS Monaco’s Fabinho in the summer, and now they’ve turned their attention to someone else: N’Golo Kanté.
This is what Le10 Sport are reporting in their monthly magazine, claiming Antero Henrique, the Ligue 1 leaders’ director of football, is already working on a deal to bring the Chelsea star back to France.
That doesn’t mean they’ll get him, as Paris Saint-Germain are said to be fully aware of how difficult it would be to convince Chelsea to let him go, especially with a contract tying him there until 2021.
However, they could get some help from Kanté himself, who Le10 say would be open to listening to an eventual offer from the French club.
Talks between the two sides for Lucas Moura back in 2017 mean the relationship between the two sides is good, but selling them their star midfielder good? Perhaps not.
This seems like a huge long shot, with Fabinho the far more realistic target.
