Prior to his surprise inclusion in Didier Deschamps’ last France squad, few will have heard about Benjamin Pavard.
After all, unless you follow Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga closely, there was no reason for you to take an active interest in the 21-year-old defender.
Well, that might change for Arsenal fans in the near future, as TF1 in France reckon the Gunners are keeping an eye on his performances over in Germany, where he currently plays for Stuttgart.
Moving there in August 2016 from Lille in France for around £4.5m, the young centre-back has been something of a revelation over the past year or so, and clubs like Bayern Munich are said to be also interested in his services.
Having just recently extended his contract with Stuttgart, a move to Arsenal or elsewhere is out of the question in January, but the story could be different come the end of the season.
TF1 believe Arsène Wenger’s interest in the player would be for next season, especially with his ability to play either on the right or in the centre of the defence.
One to keep an eye on.
