According to a report in the Turkish media, Tottenham Hotspur this week sent an official to the game between Beskitas and FC Porto.
With Beskitas forward Cenk Tosun being strongly linked with Tottenham in recent weeks it seems very likely the Premier League side were getting a lowdown on the Turkey international.
Fanatik have confirmed Tottenham were in attendance to see Beskitas qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, and they were joined by Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Roma, Nice, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Norwich City.
The Turkish newspaper say most of the clubs in attendance would have been casting an eye on Besiktas stars Cenk Tosun, Tolgay Arslan and Oğuzhan Özyakup.
Last month we covered reports from Turkey that Tottenham held initial talks with the forward’s agent and father Senol Tosun in Germany. Tosun has put in some good displays in the Champions League this season, and last week became Besiktas all-time top scorer in the competition.
This was followed up by Tottenham speaking to Beskitas officials at a recent conference in London, in which they were told they’d need to offer in the region of €20m to sign Tosun.
