The happy ship of Tottenham seems is sailing along quite nicely under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, but the manager has insisted there’s sometimes disagreements.

Speaking to Marca, again, ahead of Tottenham’s match against Real Madrid, Pochettino was asked how things are going behind the scenes. The Spanish newspaper were clearly digging and whilst they got a little out of the manager, he even managed to make disagreements sounds nice.

“There is a good relationship with the president and the board of directors. It doesn’t mean that we don’t have disagreements. In every relationship there are always different points of view. From the first day they have shown us respect and that has a great value when it comes to making decisions. Working here is very easy once you achieve that confidence.”

Not elaborating further on the disagreements, Marca put it to Pochettino that it’s a hard environment to manage in, with Premier League pressure, suggesting burn-out, but the Argentine floated through that question too: “Everything depends on human relations, on the relationship with the president, with the staff, with the club, with the academy… everything helps to keep you motivated and eager to continue… I want to be here for many years.”

So, asked Marca, how do Real Madrid links make the Tottenham manager feel?

“It makes me feel proud of my players because they are the ones who run, those who score goals, those who save them. The most beautiful thing that is happening to us is that the coaching staff, soccer players and club see that we all grow at the same speed. We came from Southampton, people like Kane, Dele Alli, Dier… they are getting more mature, the new stadium. The potential of Tottenham cannot be measured yet. It’s a matter of time and of winning. When you win everything looks much better. We will need to win so that people recognise that Tottenham does not only play well.”

And that could be where further disagreements come in with Daniel Levy and those in charge at Tottenham, but Pochettino certainly gives the impression that he’s always reasonable with his requests of the club’s board.

As the manager guides Spurs further forward, he no doubt grows his own power within the club, and if everything works at the right speed, then, as Pochettino has explained, the harmony will continue.
