Bacary Sagna probably hasn’t had the offers he expected after leaving Manchester City. That’s demonstrated by the fact it’s mid October and he’s still without a club.
Leicester City have made it clear they’re an option for the Frenchman and interested, but that deal doesn’t look close to being done.
Despite being linked with several Premier League clubs, and claims in Italy that he’s been offered to Serie A sides, Sagna is without a side and continues training under his own steam.
The claims in Italy said Sagna is very keen to play in Italian football, and had been offered to the Milan clubs. That may well seem more attractive than Leicester and, right on cue, Gazzetta dello Sport quote the fullback as saying: “I will definitely watch the Milan derby. Italian football has always fascinated me. These are the games you always want to play. I expect a high level and a draw.”
“I had the opportunity to sign up with several clubs in Turkey and England, plus interest in Portugal, France and Italy. But I love to compete at the highest levels, I know my value. To get back to the pitch I’m looking for an ambitious team. It’s not a question of money.”
Right now, it seems to be Italy, rather than Leicester, which is most interesting Sagna. However, when the Milan claims started, the two clubs were said to be ‘lukewarm’ about signing the player, so maybe the PR campaign will help.
Leicester City may have to wait.
