Gabriel Jesus’ quick adaptation to English football has really caught everyone by surprise, especially for such a young player.

The Brazilian didn’t need much time to show his skills, and since joining Manchester City in January this year, already has a record of 12 goals and five assists in 18 matches.

Jesus’ smile on his face has a lot to do with the way he managed to feel at home in Manchester. South Americans often miss their country when moving to a place like England, but the youngster made sure not to suffer from that by taking a bit of his home with him.

Brazilian outlet UOL managed an interview with the player’s brother and friends, all of them who currently live with him in his apartment in Manchester.

Jesus’ older brother Felipe talked a bit about the couple of friends: “They are Gabriel’s shadow, they live stuck together. When it was in the negotiation stage, Gabriel said he would come, but he would have to bring the family and the two”.

One of the friends, Fabinho says: “It was difficult to leave Brazil because I’m very attached to the family, but he gave me this opportunity and I could not let it slip. I have the chance to know new things, to learn a new language”.

“If we continued where we were, maybe our way would be another, something bad, because that’s how it is where we used to live. It helped us to be a better person in life”, says Higor, the other mate.

UOL reports that the boys are currently working hard to study English, as their plans for the future includes media courses, in order to be able to work abroad and stop depending on the player’s money.

His brother Felipe says: “I told the lads that it was not because Gabriel was my brother that we would be idle. I came for the same purpose, because there are a lot of people who want to have that opportunity, but for that we have to master the language”.

On Jesus’ reactions to Manchester City results, they said: “When he doesn’t have a good game,  he arrives, he locks himself in his room, and we respect that decision, until he wants to talk again”.

“But if he puts pagode (Brazilian music) on and starts playing his instruments, we can rest assured that everything is fine”.
