Back in April, BT in Denmark had a big spread on the situation of Celtic’s Erik Sviatchenko, as the Danish centre-back was becoming frustrated at the lack of opportunities he was getting from Brendan Rodgers.
One of the teams interested was said to be Leicester City, who, alongside other ‘several major clubs’, were keen to save the 25-year-old.
Well, a few months later, and there’s still a good chance Sviatchenko could leave Celtic Park, but it won’t be to go to King Power Stadium.
In fact, the very same newspaper explain the reason behind this is that ‘internal disputes within Leicester meant the transfer didn’t materialise into anything’.
As to what those ‘internal disputes’ at Leicester could be, BT don’t go into detail, but considering the problems the Foxes faced to bolster their defence back in January, eventually settling on the loan of Molla Wague, it’s not surprising to hear.
The Danish newspaper also state that QPR were also briefly interested, but that’s about as far as they go with that one.
As things stand, the likeliest club to sign the Denmark international are FC Copenhagen back in his home country, with the player, currently injured for the next 12 weeks, ‘flattered’ by their interest.
